Ever since 2002, A Walk to Remember has remained a favorite of romance films. Set in Beaufort, North Carolina, A Walk to Remember begins when a prank goes completely wrong. The most popular student, Landon Carter, takes the fall for it and ends up having to be in a school play and doing community service as a punishment. While he is in the play, he meets the reverend’s daughter, Jamie Sullivan. They begin dating, but a secret soon threatens to tear them apart.

As anyone who has seen this movie knows, A Walk to Remember is simultaneously sweet, heart-rending, enlightening and inspiring. Jamie and Landon test the bounds of love while the audience watches on pins and needles. Anyone who is a fan of this film is sure to enjoy the following list. Interestingly, this 1999 film was actually adapted from Shakespeare’s play called the Taming of the Shrew. In the movie, Katarina is the “shrew”. She is into indie rock, feminism and hates conformity. Her younger, sister is beautiful and liked by Cameron. Although Cameron wants to be with her, Bianca and Katarina’s father will not let Bianca date until Katarina dates. Instead of being depressed by this news, Cameron sets out to find the independent Katarina a date. With the help of a pretty boy, he convinces the school’s bad boy, Patrick Verona, to date her.

Filmed in 2005, this movie actually started before all of the teen mom reality shows came out. In this movie, Jacey ends up discovering that she is pregnant. Her mother creates an unusual solution: Jacey will have the baby in secret and her mother will raise the child. Although the real mother of the child is supposed to stay a secret, Jacey’s counselor finds out and tries to get her to enroll at a school intended for parenting teens. This movie was interesting to watch because it follows a plot line that is out of the ordinary for teen pregnancy films. It may be a made-for-television film, but it was still a good one.

She’s the Man may be intended for a middle school and high school audience, but that does not stop it from being super cute to watch. In the film, Amanda Byrnes plays the role of Viola. All that Viola wants to do in her life is play soccer. When the girls’ team is cut, she decides to impersonate her twin brother and play on the boys’ team. Everything goes well at first, but soon she starts to develop a crush on her teammate. To make everything even worse, her brother is expected home early. Filmed in 2007, Too Young to Marry shows the story of Jessica and Max. When they are still very young, they end up falling in love and getting married. Since they are so young, they have to face a lot of negative feedback about their marriage. Directed by Michel Poulette, this movie contains the actors Nina Dobrev and Dillon Casey.

Mean Girls remains one of the best examples of satire in recent years. It manages to poke fun at the social system in American high schools while still being extremely engrossing. This movie features the story of Cady Heron. After returning from living in Africa with her parents, Cady ends up going to a normal American high school. She befriends two fellow outcasts before a group of popular girls starts to chat her up. Filled with romance, evil plans and funny mistakes, Mean Girls is one movie that you have to watch.

Just Married is the romantic comedy that you never heard about, but should have. It stars Brittany Murphy and Ashton Kutcher. In the movie, the young couple decides to go honeymooning in Europe after their marriage. Sarah’s parents are unhappy with this arrangement, so they send her ex-boyf5riend to Europe after them in an attempt to break the young couple up. The movie ends up being funny and cute while having a number of awkward moments that will make you squirm in your seat.

If you like romances, college movies and musicals, you will enjoy Pitch Perfect. It centers around an a cappella girls’ group that is set on winning the next singing competition. Despite her best efforts not to, one of the girls ends up following for a guy on the competing team. The songs in the movie are good and the acting is above average. If you have some free time, it is an all-around good movie to watch.

How would you feel if your best friend was marrying someone else instead of you? In this movie, Julia Roberts is faced with that dilemma and decides to break up the engaged couple. Like most Julia Roberts movies, it is a great comedy and fun to watch. Although you want to hate her character for breaking up the engaged couple, Roberts manages to make her character someone who still manages to be likable.

If you want a movie like a mixture between A Walk to Remember and Mean Girls, you should check out Easy A. AS a bonus, it has some great acting by the cute Emma Stone. This story takes a leaf from the Scarlet Letter as it follows the story about a girl who spreads a rumor that she has lost her virginity. In reality, she has never been on a date, but she wants to end her good girl reputation. This film is hilarious, well-acted and all-around great to watch. If you have not already seen it, you will not regret your decision to watch Easy A.

Filmed in 2001, Legally Blonde tells the story of Elle Woods. Played by Reese Witherspoon, Elle is the head of her sorority and a natural blonde. When her boyfriend leaves her to go to Harvard, he tells her they can never marry because she is more like Marilyn Monroe than Jackie Kennedy. Elle, of course, applies to Harvard Law School on a whim and is determined to get her man back. The resulting story is one that is filled with hilarity, self-discovery and girl power.
