While the ribs are a fairly painful spot, the collar bone can be quite painful as well. If you handled the collar bone tattoo without a problem and have a pain tolerance, you will probably not have any major problems with the new tattoo.

I just got my first tattoo on my collar bone and it barely hurt but its just line. I was considering another new one (I’m thinking a dragonfly or some birds)under the ribs but above the hip. Do you know how much that would hurt? I have a high pain threshold I think so if it’s moderate pain I’d be fine, I’m just womdering.

I have a small band on my ankle and a large piece covering from the side of my breast, down my ribs to my hip and my ankle actually hurt worse lol There were parts of the ribs that hurt, but mostly those were the straight edges that felt more like he was cutting my skin than tattooing it, and all of those lines are on the backside of the body. I think having skills to cope with pain helps. I found during childbirth that pain is decreased when you hum or sing because it loosens the jaw and keeps the body relaxed. Using that during tattoo sessions also reduces the pain.

Tattoo artists often charge a minimum (normally $50 in my area) for a tattoo, so super small tattoos will be cheaper if you do several at once. The breasts should not be that bad as long as it is not on the rib, and the ankle will hurt a bit more. You should also keep in mind if you plan on having kids or not because a tattoo on the breast will end up stretching if you do. Good luck, Kay!

I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while now and they guy i’ve been to suggested getting a couple of small ones at the same time to reduce cost….. so since then i’ve been thinking about where i want my second tattoo…. and i was wondering if you know the pain level of like next to/on the boob 🙂 TIA if not i may just go ankle instead aha
