This is one of the more recent songs on the list. It was released on June 9 of 2007 and stayed at the number one spot for a total of seven weeks. Basically, the song lyrics talk about how there are always gloomy days, but the sunshine will break out of the clouds at some point. Plus, this song has an incredibly catchy tune and is wonderful to dance to.

12. That’s What Friends Are For by Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Gladys Knight and Dionne Warwick

This song was released during the AIDS scare of the 1980s. The four superstars bound together to release this single to fund AIDS research in 1985. It peaked on January 18 of 1986 and stayed in the number one spot for four weeks. If you have never heard of this song, you really need to. It is by far one of the best songs about friendship that there is.

13. Hold You Down by Jennifer Lopez

For one of the few Latina songs on this list, we have Jennifer Lopez’s “Hold You Down”. This song features Fat Joe who also happens to be a native of New York City’s the Bronx. In the song, Lopez sings about her friend has been with her more than anyone else. Even though life changes and there are always negative times, her friend has been through everything with her.

14. My Same by Adele

Joining Elton John on the list is another British singer. Known for her soulful, resounding voice, Adele’s song talks about what it is like to be with friends who happen to be different than you. Judging by her song lyrics, she intends to convey that a meaningful friendship can be discovered when we can look past the differences between each of us and find what lies beneath the surface.

15. Count on Me by Bruno Mars

He may be known for his romantic, lovemaking melodies, but Bruno Mars also happens to have one of the better best friends songs. It has an easygoing tune that is so relaxing to listen to. Once you hit the play button, you just want to curl up on a beach somewhere and let the ocean water lap against your toes. If you have not hear this one, make sure to put this on your next playlist.

16. Graduation (Friends Forever) by Vitamin C

This song has been one of the most popular songs to play at high school and college graduations for the last decade. It has a nice pop music-style beat to it and is all about sharing the important moments with your friends. Once you reach your graduation, you may end up leaving your friends for college. In some cases, it may be years or decades until you live in the same town again. At least, you can share this song with your friends and use it to remind you of the good times that you guys once had together.

17. Best Friend by 50 Cent

This song was peaked in May of 2006, so it is one of the newer ones on this list. Although it only reached number 35 on the Billboard Charts, it still remains one of the decent rap songs about friends. Be warned, though, because there are definitely some dirtier parts to this song, so do not listen to it with children!

18. What About Your Friends by TLC

Everything seemed better in the 1990s, and this song shows the truth in that statement. Sung by TLC, this song discusses how the members of TLC will never let fame get in the way of being friends. Interestingly, T-Boz said that the biggest issue was her friends ignoring her once she was famous instead of the other way around. Either way, this is an interesting song about friends.

19. Wannabe by the Spice Girls

Released in 1997, this song was one of the Spice Girls most famous. It stayed in the top number one list for four weeks. According to the Spice Girls in this song, “friendship never ends”. Although it may or may not have been true for the Spice Girls, it could ring true for your friendship.

20. Thank You for Being a Friend by Andrew Gold

The last on this list is a song from the 1970s by Andrew Gold. This soft rock song was later used in the television sitcom, the Golden Girls, so it is a recognizable tune for most people.
