15 Fun Things to Do with Your Boyfriend at Home

By on November 8, 2014

Sometimes you don’t fancy going out on a date night, or you have a day, or an hour to kill…or more like it: to fill with something exciting and fun. What to do? There is no excuse to sit around and do nothing in your PJs all day just because you don’t fancy going out, or can’t afford it. Sometimes doing nothing at home is great, but too much of nothing gets boring and there are a ton of imaginative things you can do around the house that are sure to tickle your fancy.

Below you will find some great ideas for having fun at home with your boyfriend – some naughty, some nice, some crazy and some chilled.

1. Compete to P90X or Shanti’s Insanity Videos

Who can get the most abs first? Who will survive a whole hour of a Shanti Insanity workout and still be able to walk the next day? And who can take a P90X workout without wanting to (metaphorically) kill Tony Horton? Challenge each other to have fun at home whilst working out –  maybe see who can do the most exercises in the workout program that day. You will definitively feel better about having a night at home watching Netflix after a workout like that! You might even be able to have popcorn or ice cream with the movie without feeling guilty about it.

2. Goody Good Cookie Baking

Remember the days when neighbors still offered each other pies? Or came round to chat impromptu? Why not get your hands dirty with some batches of cookie dough and make cookies for your neighbors? If you want to do even better, bake a couple of batches for a nearby homeless shelter too. Compete with each other to come up with the best recipes, or create the funkiest looking cookies. Alternatively, work together to do the same – team work, makes the dream work!

3. Play a Game of Twister

Whether you play it outdoors under the sprinklers (for that extra chance of slipping), in the living room or in bed (yes, we recently saw bedsheets with the Twister pattern on it, but we are not making any dirty suggestions about it. If you are having those thoughts they were entirely your own…) you can have a ton of fun. Some even use paints when playing. Not sure where you’d put an artwork like the Twister board will run into after that, but for sure you yourself will turn into one in the process!

4. Do a Photo Shoot

Whether you want to catch each other around the house doing everyday things, pose dressed up in ballgowns or masquerade dresses, do a boudoir shoot, or just take silly shots of each other is entirely up to you. The important thing is to get together to have some fun and laugh in the process as, unless you are professional photographers, some photos will end up looking wonky, weird and wonderful.

5. Spoil Each Other

Why not take turns spoiling each other on alternate days? Prepare your boyfriend’s favorite dish, pour him a bath and give him a massage, watch his favorite movie with him, or read aloud from his favorite book (Playboy magazine is not a book by the way, in case he wonders). You can add a romantic, naughty or simply relaxing twist to it, depending on what you feel like. The next time, let him do the same for you.

6. Play a Game of Truth or Dare

Whilst sipping wine and eating cheese, or some other highly sophisticated dish, play the highly unsophisticated truth or dare game – keep it sweet and innocent, learning more and more about each other, or dare each other to do not so innocent things. Please stay away from anything illegal though – we prefer you do not tell us you dared each other to rob a bank in the comments. And if you do, we are not responsible.

7. Play a Game of Striptease Poker

Whilst in the game department, might we suggest a game of striptease poker as well? There are few things as liberating as walking around the house naked, after all. Just ensure the curtains are drawn unless you want to give your neighbors a free show.

8. Have a Hot Bath Together

If you have a jacuzzi, that’s great, but if not, just pour a hot bath anyway and add some essential oils and rose petals. Have a candle lit bath together, shampooing each other’s hair and massaging each other, whilst sipping herbal tea or champagne. Chocolate truffles or chocolate dipped strawberries are another thing to consider nibbling on whilst in the bath. It’s a relaxing experience and you will both feel spoilt and tended to by each other. Who needs an expensive spa, when you have a lovely partner and a bath tub at home?

9. Create a Scrapbook Together

A nice thing to do together is to create a scrapbook with your memories together as a couple, as well as quotes, notes and other adorable things related to your love for one another. You can also create a scrapbook about things in life that inspire you, something you want to build together (like a house, company, great relationship, or garden) or places you want to go to. Choose a topic that you both like and get scrapbooking!

10. Do a Language Course

You could get dressed and leave the house to attend a live language course, or you could stay at home in your PJs and do a course online, or using a software. Why not motivate each other by doing it together? You are sure to laugh together as you try to pronounce the unpronounceable and remember words that seem to belong to an alien language. If you re serious about it, you can test each other and keep each other on track every week. Perfect if you have a trip planned somewhere.

11. Have an Indoor Picnic

Especially in winter time indoor picnics can be great – put a blanket and some pillows on the living room floor, make some hot chocolate or mulled wine and prepare a picnic basket with winter goodies. Light some candles to make it extra cozy and maybe read some romantic poems like they did back in the day when vowing their lovers with strolls in the park and boat rides followed by a picnic by the lake.

12. Chocolate Tasting

In love and war anything is allowed, especially incredulous amounts of chocolate. Do the suggested home workout, followed by a light salad and a chocolate tasting. Do some research about chocolate and print out a cute pamphlet, buy different high quality chocolate slabs and truffles, then taste. Alternatively, just melt some chocolate to do a fondue and dip strawberries and other berries or fruit in it. (A note of warning: eating too much chocolate will make you feel sick, and that’s not great for romance, so keep it limited.)

13. Wine Tasting

Just exchange the chocolate for wine. Bear in mind: you should spit out the wine when tasting it. After tasting different varieties you can decide which one to drink for the night and enjoy it with a nice meal and a dessert. Remember to have a dessert wine as well. If you like you can try different wines from a specific country, or area, like California, France, South Africa or Italy.

14. Cook Up a Storm

Try some new recipes together, or surprise each other by cooking new dishes once a month. It’s a treat to learn a new dish to include in the repertoire of your regular cooking (let’s face it: what you eat on a day to day basis can get a bit dull sometimes). The dishes won’t all turn out great and sometimes you might be forced to get takeaway pizzas by the end of it, but you will have a lot of fun if you set your imagination free and enjoy the process of creating some wonderful dishes.

15. Be Kids for a Night

Have a kids themed night where you have a sleepover party just the two of you. Play silly games you used to love as a kid, paint using finger paints, eat Kinder Eggs, play with pay dough, make you own ice cream flavors and watch a Disney movie or cartoon you both love. Of course also stay up late and talk all night whilst revealing secrets, just as you used to during sleepovers as a kid.
