The apple-shaped body is a difficult one for some women to dress. This is a very common body style, though. Instead of the traditional pear shape, this is a shape where women have more weight that needs to be hidden in the midsection than on the hips.

Dressing to hide this is the key. All fashion choices should be made to draw the eye away from the waist to the rest of the body, be it the chest or the legs. Focus away from the problem area, which is the waist for an apple-shaped body, is the key to seeming more slender and possibly taller as well.

1. Accentuate the Bosom

The first thing you should do is make your waist seem smaller and more defined by accentuating the bosom. This means that you have to pay a little money for an expensive bra that will make your breasts stick out and draw attention to them. Yes, ladies, a push-up bra can make all the difference.

2. Wear Low Necklines

Take those necklines low when you have those breasts looking great. Show them off, even if they are small. This attention will draw the eye upward and away from the waist. It is also a great idea to wear shirts that have a lot of front detailing and wrapping.

3. Patterns Are Your Friend

Wear patterns as much as possible. Single colors will make larger areas look larger. Prints can be an illusion to the eye and will take it all over the body instead of over larger areas. It may hide them and make the waist seem smaller.

4. Wear Long Tops

Make sure that tops are longer as well. This length will make you look slimmer and draw the eye down to your legs, decreasing the problem area greatly. Waist-defining belts can be paired with almost any sort of top or dress as long as it has enough length. This will make your waist seem much smaller than it is and look very fashionable as well.

5. Slim Jeans

Slim jeans and leggings are always a great idea as well. They will make the legs look longer and slimmer, which will once again draw attention from the waist. These are best paired with short dresses and super long shirts. Even a waist defining belt will work with these as well.

6. Boot Cut Jeans

Flair or boot cut jeans work well also because they draw the eye downward from the waist to the bottom of the jeans. They lengthen legs and draw attention.

Now that you know how to dress an apple shaped body, it’s time to start shopping!
