How to Get a Guy to Text You Back

Don’t you just wish that every guy you texted responded as quickly as you wish he did? I think we all have this problem from time to time. We really like a guy, manage to get his phone number, and then they just don’t text us back after we send them a text!

It’s really frustrating but it is also kind of heartbreaking. We put a lot of courage into hitting that send button only to feel let down when we don’t get that text back. I can understand why anyone would feel rejected and hurt after something like this.

For that reason, I’ve decided to put together an entire guide that will help you get a guy to text you back – even if he’s really stubborn! These different techniques will bring you that much closer to making him yours.

1. Bring Up Something Interesting

Don’t just start the conversation with your usual, “Hey!” He will probably look at it and throw his phone back into his gym bag with the intention of maybe texting back later, but he’ll most likely forget about it altogether. If you just say something that simple it doesn’t give him a reason to respond because it’s just forgettable. Bring up something interesting that he won’t be able to refuse.

2. Play Hard to Get

If he ever does text you back, don’t respond right away. Wait a few hours and then casually respond as if his text isn’t really all that important to you. This may seem counter productive but it’s actually a great way to get him to respond even faster to you because he’ll be curious as to what took you so long to begin with.

3. Text at a Decent Time

A lot of girls make the mistake of texting a guy when he’s at work or at school. These are terrible times to text him because he’s busy and can’t respond as easily. This means he’ll probably look down at his phone and then put it away and forget about it. The best times to text him are when you know he’s got some free time on his hands. In the morning and later in the evening are great times to text him and increase your chances of him texting you back.

4. Don’t Text Him a Lot at One Time

Don’t be the type of girl that sends him a text and then 5 others within 10 minutes when he doesn’t respond. This is probably really annoying to him and he’ll feel overwhelmed if he looks down and sees that many texts at a time. Just sending out one good text is enough to get him to text you back. There’s no need to bombard him.

5. Have Your Own Life

One of the best ways to get a guy to text you back is to just have your own life. Go hang out with friends and join new clubs and have a lot of cool hobbies. Being a unique person will make him want to get to know you more and this will increase your odds at getting him to text you back. If you have a lot going on, you’ll have a lot to talk about and he’ll want to keep the conversation going.

6. Find Out His Interests

Now, this doesn’t give you permission to be a total creep and find out every single thing about him but you should make an effort to find out a few things that he’s interested in so you can start a conversation about them. Guys are much more willing to text you back if it’s about something they really like.

7. Don’t Send Naughty Photos

No matter what you do or how back you want to get a guy to text you back, NEVER send him a naughty picture. Sure, it might get you a response but it will never be the response you’re looking for and he will get the wrong idea about you. He’ll think you’re only going to be there to send him naughty things and you never know if he’ll show them to his friends.

8. Don’t Lie

I know that guys really like girls that have things in common with them but you should never lie about having these things in common. It might get him to text you back but when he realizes you can’t hold a conversation about it, he’ll stop and become uninterested. In order to get him to text you back and want to keep texting you, always tell the truth about who you are – even if that means you don’t have much in common. If anything, he’ll be interested to learn about stuff he doesn’t know about.

9. Don’t be Needy

Guys are people that love helping and fixing things. If you’re having some difficulties in a part of your life send him a text asking if you can have his advice. Chances are he’ll be more than willing to help simply because he’ll be curious as to what you think he can help with. He’ll also be flattered that you’re turning to him and not one of your girlfriends.

11. Don’t Stalk Him

For the love of all men everywhere, don’t creep on his social media for hours at a time. You can’t sit there and like all of his pictures and statuses after texting him assuming that it will prompt him to text you back. The truth is that he’ll be weirded out and not want to talk to you if you’ve just creeped back to the last 5 years of his life.

12. Keep it Casual

There’s no need to dive into anything personal right away – especially if he hasn’t even texted you back yet. Keeping the starting conversation simple and casual takes all the pressure off of him. Guys tend to run away from anything that is overloaded with feelings and pressure. This way he won’t feel like you’re putting him on the spot and he’ll be more likely to text you back.

13. Make Other Plans

If you’re texting a guy for the purpose of getting together and hanging out with him but he doesn’t text you back, make other plans. Don’t let your night be ruined because you stayed in waiting for a text that never came. If he does so happen to text you back when you’re out with your other plans, just let him know you wanted to hang with him but ended up going to wherever it is you’re at. Be funny! Guys are pretty simple people and they prefer girls that have a sense of humor about them. If they can joke with you and know you won’t take anything too seriously or they won’t insult you they are more willing to text you back because they can be themselves.

If you really want to get a guy to text you back, send a message and then call them if it’s not answered within a couple hours. It may seem strange to call a guy but if the call goes to voicemail he’ll more than likely text you to see what you wanted. This is a great way to motivate him to text you back.

When people are uncomfortable they do everything they can to avoid being in that situation. If you text him and you’re really awkward and bringing up topics that he would rather not talk about, he won’t text you back.

It takes a lot to get a guy to smile – especially if he doesn’t know you very well so if you succeed to do this, he’s going to want to text you back because he’ll be interested to know more about a girl that can make him smile. So be funny and send him something cute and funny.

19. Be Flirty

Flirt your way into his heart! If a guy notices that you’re interested in him he will want to text you back to continue the flirting.

20. Remember Your Worth

Don’t forget that just because this guy isn’t texting you back or seems uninterested, it doesn’t have anything to do with you. Maybe he’s just not at a point in his life that he is willing to get to know someone on an intimate level.
