Plenty of us struggle with acne on our face cheeks; but what about those other ‘cheeks’ down below? Even though plenty of us have the dreaded butt-pimples, most of us are too embarrassed to discuss it with our friends to find the answer to our little problem. Ditch the embarrassing conversations and get rid of those pesky butt pimples in a flash with these 5 tips to getting RID of acne on butt for GOOD.

Why Am I Struggling with Butt Acne?

It’s not as ‘weird’ as you think; it is actually very common, and the reasons for butt pimples is very simple to explain as well. You are either struggling with dry skin- and since your clothes are always attached to your body, there’s room for extra irritation, or you have bacteria getting trapped inside of your butt pores- either from wearing tight clothes, sitting too often, or not showering as often as you should (especially after working out).

First and Foremost: You Need a Cleanser/Body Wash With Benzoyl Peroxide

One of the quickest and easiest ways to get rid of acne on the butt is to use a cleanser or body wash with benzoyl peroxide in it. This tropical antiseptic is commonly found in facial cleansers in an effort to get rid of acne on the face, but it can also be used in the shower to get rid of that butt acne. Just be extra careful when using this product, as using it far too often can definitely dry out your skin.

There are plenty of options when it comes to washes with benzoyl peroxide inside, and most of these products will have the ingredient listed on the front. If this ingredient name isn’t popping out at you while searching down the isle, finding any body wash designed for acne will do the trick. The product will most likely have benzoyl peroxide inside, but if you want to double check, simply look at the ingredients on the back of the product.

Use Salicylic Acid a Few Times a Week

For 99 percent of people, the only reason they are getting butt acne is simply because bacteria is getting clogged inside of the pores. One quick way to remove all of that gunk and fend off future issues is to use salicylic acid a couple of times a week.

However, do keep in mind that salicylic acid is very strong and can irritate or dry out the skin if used too often. For this reason, stick to using it just a few times, maybe 2 or 3 times in a week. You can find exfoliating pads for a quick fix, or try on some creams or lotions after you shower to solve the butt acne.

Moisturize with Lactic Acid

So, I am just going to be really honest with you: lactic acid is NOT the best smelling thing in the world. But, you know what? It works. And that is why I am recommending it to you to get rid of those pimples!

Lactic acid can easily be found in lotions, and it is designed to increase the amount of moisture and water in the skin. This is the perfect solution if you’re struggling with butt acne due to dry skin.

ALWAYS Shower After Working Out

You might just want to skip the shower if you’re in a rush, but we highly recommend you don’t delay that shower and head right to the water when you’re done with your workout. Not only will this ensure you smell delicious for whatever event you’re headed to next (and that could just be going to bed and getting a good nights sleep!) but it will also ensure there is no leftover sweat or bacteria being left on your bum.

Sweat opens up your pores, leaving plenty of opportunity for bacteria and other nasty germs to enter with ease. It is SO important to shower, especially after working out, whether you use a simple anti-bacterial soap or go all out with your special acne-fighting product.

Don’t Wear Tight Clothing All of the Time

We KNOW you love your tight clothes that show off ALL those delightful curves, but taking a day off from form-fitting outfits will give your bum some time to ‘breathe’. Instead of those tight pants of shorts, why not put on one of those adorable springtime dresses? And you can’t go wrong with a sexy skirt, right! There’s plenty of different options, but the goal is to give your bum a breather.

Don’t Sit for Too Long

I think we can all agree we do a LOT of sitting throughout the day: when we go to school, if we work a sedentary desk job, if we’re watching television, or just hanging out with our pals! All that sitting means your bum is getting NO air, which leaves plenty of opportunity for pesky bacteria to intrude. All that sitting isn’t good for you to begin with, but it’s especially bad if you’re a struggler of butt pimples.

Try and get more exercise; even simply standing up and giving your butt some air is enough though, really. If you work a desk job try and get up multiple times throughout your shift to avoid too much sitting.

Who would have thought something as simple as standing up more could help with butt acne? Yep, it’s true!

Avoid Heavy Lotion and Oils

Oil is a BIG no-no as it will definitely clog up your pores in an instant. But furthermore, avoid any type of thick, heavy lotions as these can also clog your pores and give your bum less room to get rid of icky toxins.

Drink More Water

Drinking enough water is crucial for your overall health, but while we are on the subject of toxins and butt acne, let me tell you this much: drinking plenty of water will help you to get rid of excess toxins in the body. And if you have acne anywhere- on your bum, face, back, or wherever- lots of water will definitely help your body filter toxins out to get rid of the acne. It’s not the ONLY recipe for success, but it is a HUGE impact on the fight against butt acne.

Never: I Repeat, NEVER Pop Your Pimples

You have probably heard this a million times already, but I am here to tell you again: don’t pop your pimples! No matter where the pimples are located, popping them will only make the problem a million times worse; and that is exactly what we are trying to avoid, right? Keep your hands away from the pimples and follow the other steps to a pimple-free bottom.

You don’t have to struggle with acne on your bottom forever. By following these simple steps to get rid of butt acne, you can live life with a pretty butt you’ll want to show off in a bikini.
