How To Get Thicker Eyebrows

By on January 22, 2014

Thick, luscious eyebrows can really enhance our look. They draw attention to our eyes, complimenting our eye and face shape. Even in the celebrity world they’re as popular as ever and are being flaunted by beauties such as Lily Collins, Keira Knightly and Camilla Belle. Thick eyebrows truly do draw attention to you for all the right reasons. Thin, sparse eyebrows on the other hand can have a detrimental effect on your look. They can make you appear older, washed out and tired – things I’m sure we’d all rather avoid.

For those of us not blessed with curvaceous, thick eyebrows, don’t panic. It’s not the end of the world. There are plenty of things we can do to fill them out and make you look gorgeous once again. Here’s my handy list of tips and tricks to thicken those eyebrows and make them look luscious.

Tinting Works!

You can tint your eyebrows to make them look thicker and fuller using a variety of methods.

First and foremost, let’s go for that good old fashioned home remedy of using a an eyebrow pencil. An eyebrow pencil is a great way to fill in any sparse areas of your brows, making them appear fuller and darker. You can also outline them slightly to make them wider just be sure not to go over the top. For an even better result, blend your eyebrow pencil with a cotton bud to create an even smoother and more natural looking finish. Instead of eyebrow pencils, you could also use eyeshadow. The loose powder will give you an even more natural looking effect. No matter which of these you choose be sure to pick a colour that suits you though. Don’t go too dark. More often than not, you’re better off using brown than black so it’s worth experimenting no matter what your natural colouring is.

You can also visit your local salon to have your eyebrows professionally tinted. The benefits of this is firstly you get the advice and expertise of a professional and secondly the results can last up to six weeks, saving you a lot of time and energy.

Surgical Options

If you want your eyebrows to be permanently thicker and have a completely natural looking appearance, perhaps your best option is surgery. You can have an op to implant hair follicles into your brows which, in theory, should take and grow naturally along side your existing eyebrows. Sounds good, right? The major downside is the price. While it will cause you a lot less hassle over the years and most likely produce a better result you’ll be much cheaper visiting your local salon or shelling out for eyebrow pencils over the years.

DIY Eyebrow Growing

Believe it or not there are ways to encourage thicker eyebrow growth using everyday products you can buy at your local drug store. Applying Vaseline, olive oil, castor oil,  aloe vera gel or whole baby milk to your eyebrows twice a day can help to stimulate growth, giving you long lasting results. You can also purchase various eyebrow growth products and eyebrow conditioners which are full of all the vitamins required to help your lashes become full and luscious. Of course, while all of these remedies have been shown to create great, long lasting results they’re not guaranteed. For some of us it simply isn’t possible to stimulate extra growth however these methods are definitely worth a try.

Good nutrition is also essential for eyebrow growth. Ensuring you eat healthily and get a fair share of vitamins A, D and E will promote eyebrow growth as well as making the rest of you appear healthy, radiant and glowing. Win, win!

All in all, any of these tips or tricks will help you to some degree however for the best results I recommend using a mix of a few of them. If you’re attempting to stimulate growth using DIY methods such as creams and healthy eating, I recommend that while you wait for results you also use a variety of the tinting methods to transform your look instantly. Why not visit your local salon for advice on how to colour your eyebrows at home? Your stylist will be able to give you professional advice to make you look your best and no doubt they’ll be happy to do so. A lot of salons also run makeup courses to teach your how to do these things – they’re great fun and you’ll learn a lot, not just eyebrow tinting methods.

Getting thicker eyebrows takes a bit of trial and error but, if done right, you’ll have beautiful brows in no time!
