Rules of flirting

By on January 9, 2013

Flirting is not just the things that come out of your mouth. Flirting is a whole host of things that you do, that you may not necessarily have known about, but that is reflected to people that you are attracted to. This means that everything about flirting is important, which incidentally brings me very nicely to my first rule:

Look up the definition of flirting!

Many dictionaries would state that flirting technically means:

  1. Behave as though attracted to or trying to attract someone, but without serious intentions: “it amused him to flirt with her”.
  2. Experiment with or show a superficial interest in (an idea, activity, or movement) without committing oneself to it seriously.

See the first point? You are behaving as though you are attracting someone to you – this means that you use many different parts of your body to actually flirt with someone.

Don’t underestimate the importance of body language!

Your eyes may steal a glance over in his direction every now and again, but to him you are giving him the definite come-on. Your eyes and general demeanour makes up the flirting body language. By looking at him and maintaining eye contract, you are showing him that you want him; that you are interested in him. So ladies; if you like him, look at him! You’ll soon give him the right hint!

Standing with your arms crossed over the front of your body may look cool in your head, but to him you are giving off plain and simple “Leave me alone” signs. Imagine how put off you would be if a guy were to talk to you like that in a bar! You look unapproachable and scary; open up your body language.

Standing with your body facing him, arms to your sides, no crossing of the legs is the best way to get yourself a new man. It shows that you are open and approachable, and you will more than likely get a few drinks out of it at least!

Learn what not to say!

“Did it hurt when you fell from the sky?”

“Is your Dad a thief? He sure stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes!”

In one, two, three….. Blurgh! No girl loves a chat up line guys, so don’t use them. You look cheesy. You look unoriginal. Lastly, you look ridiculous. Make up your own lines and try not to make them look too structured or set-up.

Quit fidgeting!

When you tap your foot, tug at the fraying ends of your seam on your skirt, or pull on your hair, you look nervous and do you know what this says to a guy? No confidence. Fidgeting makes you look like you are comfortable with your current companion, and unless you want him to start looking
