In the past few years we have witnessed celebrities and models parading in over the knee socks. It means that now it is about time that we introduce these items from wild 90’s into our own wardrobes. It still remains  a mystery for many of us how to wear over the knee socks with style without running into the risk of looking like an overgrown naughty schoolgirl or a character from a saucy movie. These seven simple guidelines will help you find your way in the diversity of looks and styles one can build using over the knee socks.

  1. Layered legs.

1

One of the easiest looks. It is ideal for those who are still learning the skill of wearing over the knee socks. Can be used with dashy printed tights for a bold look, or with modest sheer black tights for something more traditional and conservative (well, you cannot really look very conservative in over the knee socks, though!)

  1. With shorts (denim or any other kind).

2

Have you always considered wearing shorts with tights to be a fashion crime? I would be happy to not only bust this myth but to add a pair of over the knees to the whole outfit. Believe me, there is nothing wrong with it, in fact, it gives you an opportunity to wear your favorite denim shorts in fall and winter. The key rule here is as follows: dress your upper half well in order not to have a misbalance between your summer top and your winter bottom. A sweatshirt will help you achieve intense results.

  1. Urban chic.

3

When paired with a simple office dress, these socks add a deep dramatic touch. A pair of over the knee socks instantly changes your stern outfit into a sexy and sophisticated one. The thing about over the knee socks is that they already carry sexual seductive innuendo just by their mere existence. Pairing them with an ascetic dress brings the whole image onto a new level of a perfect balance between purity and sensuality.

  1. Over the boots.

4

You can wear over the knee socks with most shoes- oxfords, combat boots, sneakers, and even sandals, but no matter which trends fashion designers suggest, these socks is firstly a fall/winter accessory. That is why, the best effect is achieved when they are paired with high boots. Indeed, over the knee socks are just made for high boots! They will keep your knees warm and your whole image aesthetically pleasant and noteworthy.

  1. Girly edge.

5

This look is much favored with the teenage girls and everyone who feels young and playful. If you are not a teenage girl anymore, it might be not easy to pull off this look, but it is not impossible. First, avoid tiny plaid skirts. Leather or wool skirt can be an adequate substitute and it will keep your image girlish without appearing inappropriate. Second, choose adult shoes to go with this outfit. The skirt, though, can be any shape and style. Adding over the knees to a short skirt is a wonderful mode to wear a short skirt without looking too leggy. Besides, it adds a fresh edgy tone to the whole outfit.

  1. Leggings and a baggy sweater.

6

You can always substitute leggings for a pair of sheer tights if you are bold enough, but the key message of this look still remains the same: winter is here and you are ready to face it. This outfit gives the impression of warmth and coziness and you would love to put it on when going for a cup of hot cappuccino with your bbfs.

  1. In bright colors.

7

This is an ultimate trend for those who have already mastered the basics of wearing over the knee socks, and are ready to go advanced. The variety of bright colors if breathtaking and for those who are all set to go even further, there are plenty of over the knees of funky cool designs.

Over the knee socks are fun and practical. Play with your looks and you will see there is no more need to stop wearing your favorite clothes because of the cold gloomy weather.

If you are a woman over 40, you must know that this age is great—you still have the beauty of the youth and a sophistication and style of your age. The key to using the advantage of your age is to follow some simple rules that will help you stay sexy without imitating teenage styles, because, as your body is changing, so should your clothing.

  1. Do not dress too young.

1

Ditch the miniskirts for something classier and more elegant. It is ironic that dressing younger does not make you look younger; in fact, it makes you look older than you are. Why? Because wearing something designed for teenagers creates a misbalance between your look and your outfit. Take a look at Catherine Zeta-Jones, who at the age of 45 keeps is simple, stylish and age-appropriate.

  1. Do not dress too old.

2

Sometimes women follow the first rule so meticulously that they go to other extreme and find somewhere grandma’s shoes and cardigans. Forget about those granny items for at least thirty more years, you are not a grandma yet (even if you already have grandchildren). Cate Blanchett’s gray jumpsuit is a great example of how you can age in style.

  1. Take care of your hair.

3

A woman in her 20’s can pull off a simple hairdo and all she needs to look good is a wash and a brush. A woman in her 40’s needs to take extra care of her hair, since it immediately makes you look younger, more sophisticated and chic. Take extra ten minutes to style your hair. Get a fresh cut regularly. Can you tell Kate Beckinsale is 41? Her hair makes her look at least five years younger.

  1. Know your type.

4

It is important that by the age of 40 you know your body and skin type and choose styles and colors accordingly. However, always keep in mind that your skin type might slightly change from when you were 30, so revise the clothes shades you were wearing until now. You might want to go brighter or change the color palette; that is why do not be afraid to experiment and try new things. You might get pleasantly surprised to find out that this shade of red in fact fits you perfectly. Especially with your signature red lipstick.

  1. Go classy.7

Do not shop trends, shop style. Forty is a good time to find your personal style, to learn what suits you best, to create your own rules and follow them. Instead of going hip, invest in timeless jewelry and handbags, which will help you develop your signature look, like, for instance, 42-year-old Gwyneth Paltrow does.

  1. Get inspired by celebrities your age.5

Look at movie actresses you like and follow their look without replicating it. Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Lucy Liu, Jennifer Aniston all look great in their forties. There is no reason why you should look worse than any of them.

  1. Makeup! 6

Have you been using the same palette in the past ten years? Remember, your skin changed and so did the makeup rules and trends. What was in vogue ten years ago and looked great on you, now will just reveal your age and outdated preferences. Moreover, if you never used makeup, now it is time to start doing so, since your natural beauty might get somewhat faded with age. Do not underestimate the power of makeup. Carefully chosen and applied, it will emphasize your beauty and glow. Heidi Klum would look very plain has she not used her makeup wisely.

  1. Focus on shoulders and legs.

8

With age, your chest and neck might get wrinkly and less smooth, so it’s probably time to cover them with some nice accessories. As for your legs and your shoulders, they are the slowest to age, and that is why you can always show them off. Of course, I do not ask you, however, to wear minis, but wearing a nice pencil skirt will work great for women over 40.

  1. Shop at stores that cater for your age.

9

You love Forever 21? Great, suggest your daughter to shop there. Your shopping niche is already different. It is more sophisticated. It is wrong however to think that over 40’s fashion provides only high-end shopping experiences. Budget stores like Asos, Banana Republic, and Mango offer great variety of outfits for women in their forties as well.

  1. Use layers.

10

Do not underestimate the power of layering. Simple silhouettes turn more complex and visually stimulating, play with the layers and just be creative!

Follow these simple rules and you will look and feel great about yourself and never have a moment of fashion awkwardness again. And remember: age is just a number!

It seems like all of a sudden summer is right around the corner which means it’s time we prepared ourselves for summer sun, beach parties, late nights, and getting ourselves nicely tanned. And what would summer be without some great summer hairstyles to show off while we enjoy endless days on the beach? If you’re stuck for some inspiration when it comes to summer hairstyles then have no fear, I’ve been doing some digging to come up with fifty awesome hairstyles that will ensure you look gorgeous this summer. This list is a true mix – I’ve found styles for long hair, medium length hair, pixie cut hair, colourful hair… You name it, I’ve found it! Whether you’re preparing to hit festival after festival, are packing for a summer holiday, or are simply looking forward to sunny days spent with friends then you ought to check out these fifty awesome hairstyles, each of them worn by your favourite celebrities. Here goes, enjoy!

1. Jennifer Lawrence Summer Hairstyle: Classic Beach Waves

0b545d1cd527c396db170aa973566240

Of course, no list of summer hairstyles would be complete without mentioning classic beach waves. This in my opinion is the perfect summer style. It’s quick, it’s easy, it looks great, it doesn’t matter if it gets a little windswept (in fact it probably looks better then!), and it works no matter your face shape or what type of bangs you have. Provided your hair is long enough to add waves to there’s no reason you can’t do this classic summer style.

2. Nina Dobrev Summer Hairstyle: Classic Pontyail

0d54d2553e049f7f7f555fb4c177ab43

I love being outside during summer, as I’m sure most of you do. There’s just something about the warm air and the gentle breeze that I find alluring. The biggest problem with being outdoors so much however is that you’ll find your hair all too often gets tangled from being exposed to the wind. This makes it unruly and often sore to brush out. To combat this, why not use a classic summer ponytail? You will look great, your hair doesn’t get tangled, plus more of your skin will be exposed for tanning.

3. Nicole Kidman Summer Hairstyle: Slick Ponytail

0e37589d1870669de9a5668a7a8cd03b

For some people a classic ponytail just isn’t stylish enough, plus it still exposes you to the risk of a few strands of hair being windswept. Still, a ponytail is a great idea if you’re facing a windy, summer day so why not try out this slick ponytail? By pulling your hair back ever tighter you’re creating a sleek look which is virtually untouchable by the wind. Plus, more of your skin is exposed for tanning as I mentioned earlier. The one downside I’ll point out is that you shouldn’t wear this style too often or it could damage your hair.

4. Hilary Duff Summer Hairstyle: Rockchick Waves

1fa8c1feda8dfef988b07d057e2acb7d

This is the perfect hairstyle whether you’re thinking of hitting a festival or are just going for a stroll on the beach. It looks somewhat similar to classic beach waves but with a little more attitude. The overall effect doesn’t have to be quite as precise and it doesn’t matter if some curls and waves are smaller than others. By pulling some strands back like Hilary Duff you’re exposing your face more, allowing you to get a summer glow, and you’re adding to the rock chick style. Rule number one of this look – don’t worry if it’s a little bit messy, it will just enhance your look.

5. Rachel McAdams Summer Hairstyle: Choppy Bob With Coloured Highlights

3b5a1ef668c0d9cf25b7665326527a24

I’m a massive fan of the choppy bob hairstyle like Rachel McAdams is modelling above. It’s great because you can style it anyway you like meaning it’s suitable for any face shape. If you’ve got long hair and are considering a change this summer I highly recommend this style. Plus, why not try adding a splash of colour to really bring your style to life too? Or maybe a few colours? This is a fab idea if you’re going to a festival!

6. Hilarie Burton Sumer Hairstyle: Permed

3b097ae3701a9247043c3964794533e6

Curls seem to be all the rage when summer time comes around. Some people find themselves spending hours daily curling their hair and so I ask you, why not get your hair permed so it’s permanently curled (or at least for a few months). That way you’ll have loads more time to spend enjoying the summer sun. Hilarie Burton looks great with her tight curls but some people don’t suit them. If you’ve got a rounder face you’d likely suit loose curls better. Before taking the plunge consult your stylist on what type of curls would suit you best.

7. Drew Barrymore Summer Hairstyle: Flower Up Do and Coloured Hair

3fad91781522bf4d6bc89b45caa87066

If you’re looking for a truly unique style to hit the festivals with then you’ll love this summer flower up do. All you need to do to create it is to pull all your hair back and tie it into a messy bun and simply slide your favourite summer flowers in around the crown. To make the most of this effect why not dye your hair a startling colour like Drew Barrymore has done. This will create a truly memorable summer look.

8. Sophie Turner Summer Hairstyle: Simple Elegance

4d705e2ba88617cec273514d4173e5d3

If you don’t have much time to do your hair before heading out into the sun then why not do something really simple like Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner. She looks beautiful and ready to take on summer here yet with minimal effort. All you need to do to create this look is brush out your hair, sweep ones side of it behind your ear and pin it in place with a delicate sum me flower.

9. Selena Gomez Summer Hairstyle: Half Waves

5abeb1be68ad49b1e4b2874786402c55

If you’ve got a round or heart shapes face you might find that a full head of waves is too much of you. In that case a flattering alternative is to have only half your head waved. This means only waving or curling the bottom half of your hair and straightening the top half. This is far more flattering to round face shapes yet still gives you a great summer look.

10. Rihanna Summer Hairstyle: Bold, Accessorised Up Do

5b276667df0e95e97ecdb2587e33892f

If you fancy a real stand out summer style then this is a great look to do for. There are so many great thing about this style of Rihanna’s! Firstly, her bold choice of colour is perfect for summer. Secondly, her curled up do just screams ‘festival’. And thirdly, she’s done a great job of accessorising her style a her wonderfully summery bow. Note how she’s matched her bow colour to her hair – this is a tip you should always follow when style. Make sure the colour of your accessory is suitable.

11. Emily Osment Summer Hairstyle: Delicate Braid with Layers

6d13e5e2689979cd09998aecb88fb26b

I love seeing long, chunky braids in summer time – it’s a great festival style – but never fear if your hair isn’t long enough to do this, there is a great alternative. This style by Emily Osment is the perfect way to still wear a summer braid even if you have fine, layered hair. Note how she’s only braided the underside of her hair, creating a delicate braid, and had gently curled her top layers. This creates a truly dynamic loco with tonnes of texture.

12. Nina Dobrev Summer Hairstyle: Centre Braid

6ea6182e7efda157cc5983158b7039f9

Here Nina Dobrev is wearing is beautiful braid which spawns from the centre of her head, not the side as you often see. Note how she’s teased the braid to make it look thicker. This is a great look if you want a style a little less intrusive than a side braid or if you have medium length hair too.

13. Kate Hundson Summer Hairstyle: Sleek and Straight

6edf21a8757355e9ed608e5d610bdf42

Of course there’s no rule that says summer hairstyles have to be complicated. Take Kate Hudson’s look here for example. All she’s done is gently straightened her hair, making it look sleek, stylish, and effortless. This is a great choice for a summer style if you don’t have much time to work on your hair. Plus, it’s a great all year round look too so you need not stop wearing it come fall. Even better, this look can be pulled off no matter your face shape or your hair length.

14. Miley Cyrus Summer Hairstyle: Long Curls

6f3efc0761f8f2215035cae6ed878edb

This is one of my favourite styles of all time – long curls. In my opinion, curls look fab no matter the season and on any length hair but there’s no denying that Miley looks great here with he flowing locks. If you’ve got highlighted hair or are looking to get them then I definitely recommend this style. This is a great look for summer as it’s a simple twist on beach waves.

15. Miley Cyrus Summer Hairstyles: Thick Side Braid

7ccc7da2cf0fd6f3c3527a39baf22c11

Remember before when I told you about thick side braids? Well this is them! Doesn’t it look great? To make the most of this look don’t strive to make your braid look printing. It looks even better if you have a few fly aways and your layers are allowed to flow freely like Miley’s. This is a style that works for most face shapes but you’ll find it works best on round and heart shapes faces. Try playing with your bangs in this style to see where they look best too.

16. Rachel Bilson Summer Hairstyle: Half Up Do

7e0b494f7007a6f64a8c4a0c8bae019e

This is a fab style for summer as it takes mere minutes to do, giving you more time to spend in the sun, plus it gets hair off your face so you can soak up a summer glow. There are lots of variations of this style but the best is this classic, simple style shown here by Rachel Bilson. Why not try experimenting by curling your loose hair and pinning the top of your hair back in different ways?

17. Selena Gomez Summer Hairstyle: Loose Layers

8cd62dec474eeb80b4b71bc344c54a7c

If it’s a windy day but you don’t want to tie all of your hair back then this is a great alternative. Just tie back the majority of your hair but leave your layers to flow freely in the breeze. Selena Gomez really rocks this look, doesn’t she? Especially with her curled layers!

18. Scarlett Johansson Summer Hairstyle: Side Swept, Wavy Bob

51d9d4c870378ad8b34dfe95a138ac32

Bobs are perfect for summer as they’re easy to maintain and expose more of your skin to the sun. I love Scarlett Johansson’s style here – her wavy bob looks fab and the fact thats she’s swept her hair into a side parting makes the style look even better. She’s really captured a lot of texture and volume in her look. This look is best work if you have a slim face.

19. Sophie Turner Summer Hairstyle: Slicked Back

59bf3e0ecff54f140bdef873ae3495e7

If you have an important event where you need to look your best (prom or a wedding for example) you should give this look a go. It doesn’t matter how long your hair is or what shape your face is, you’ll be able to pull this look off perfectly. It’s sleek, it’s sexy, and it just screams elegance.

20. Hillary Duff Summer Hairstyle: Rough Ponytail

061d88cb56c0603e7434017095f6b85d

This is perhaps the perfect summer ponytail as it’s quick, easy, and looks so stylish. All you need to do to create it is brush through your hair and then pull it all back into a rough ponytail with your fingers. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect, that’s the whole point! If you can, try to keep you bangs hanging loose too. This is a great festival look.

21. Emma Roberts Summer Hairstyle: Carefree with a Side Parting

68ed285417906bb7f29414d9be6f7abd

This style is incredibly stylish despite only taking a few minutes to do. All you have to do is brush your hair through, create a dramatic side parting, and sweep your hair over one shoulder. This is a fab look if you’re wearing a top with a fancy back too s it really shows it off.

22. Demi Lovato Summer Hairstyle: Bright Dip Dye

73f2780e83f129f18d1c34b93ede02d4

If you’re looking for a style to really make a statement then look no further! Dip dying is all the rage just now but forget about natural colours. Summer is coming which means it’s time to be bold, be bright, and be free. Here Demi shows us a beautiful shade of pink but depending on your skin tone and natural hair colour you could look just as good with blue, green, purple, orange, anything! The choice is yours!

23. Kristen Bell Summer Hairstyle: Trilby Hat

96c31fdda4e555629de8331dd14041a1

Just because it’s no longer cold out doesn’t mean you have to stash all your hats in the attic. There are plenty of hats you can wear even now that it’s summer time! Take Kristen Bell in this trilby for example, she looks fabulous and ready to take on the sun. Depending on your face shape and hairstyle I suggest you try on a number of hats to see what suits you. Oh, and try to always expose as much of your hair as possible as this will really make your look pop.

24. Scarlett Johansson Summer Hairstyle: Delicate Hairband

99b5e15c42ad9bbaffe5c1312571fc22

One of the biggest problems with wearing your hair down is keeping it out of your face – sound about right? If it does then why not make like Scarlett Johansson this summer and make use of a simple accessory to push your hair out of your eyes while you take in the sight of all the festivals and sandy white beaches. It’s a great way to add volume to the rest of your hair as you can see too.

25, Vanessa Anne Hudgens Summer Hairstyle: Dip Dyed Locks and a Summer Hat

493cf7adab2de44ebb5c2cf4026a4c9d

Vanessa looks completely festival ready here, I’m sure you’ll agree. Her purple cowboy hat looks fab with her summer outfit and helps to protect her from the sun. Make note of her lovely, natural dip dyed locks too. With her beautiful hair, cowboy hat, and sunglasses it looks as though she doesn’t have a care in the world.

26. Emma Roberts Sumer Hairstyle: Curls and Polkadots

660a2164ba0e2c4ff5bb5ec2716562da

Wearing a chic headband like Emma Roberts is a sure way to set your look alight this summer. Her polkadot headband looks fab and is a classic look that will never go out of fashion. Headbands are a great way to sweep your hair off your face while spicing up your look. No matter your hair length or face shape this is a look you ought to try!

27. Scarlett Johansson Summer Hairstyle: Messy Bun

3530cda8a0724be7183d620526b99e2b

Simply throwing your hair into a messy bun is a great summer look. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it allows you to pull your hair back so more of your skin can soak up the summer sun. Don’t panic if you don’t have long hair, as you can see Scarlett’s hair isn’t long either. This makes for some interesting fly aways that in my opinion only enhance the look. It’s summer, not a court meeting, why would you want to worry about being perfect?

28. Kirsten Dunst Summer Hairstyle: Pinned Back Sides

7693ce15ea3e87578100496758bde011

This is a great look that’s truly effortless. Kirsten’s delicate waves have been pinned back off her face using cute, white pins whig reveals her face and adds volume to the rest of her hair. Note how her bangs are left to fall across her face, something which helps to soften her look. The longer your hair the better for this look but of course it has many variations so don’t be afraid to play around no matter your hair length.

29. Kaley Cuoco Summer Hairstyle: Braided Up Do

36430e0f746c41299ad5b8639cec18fa

You may need a little help if you’re thinking of trying to create a braided up do but it’s completely worth the hassle. While this isn’t an everyday look, this style is perfect for a formal evening somewhere. If you have a thin face try sweeping all your hair back but if you have a round face then leaving a few stands of hair down to frame it will really enhance this summer look.

30. Emilia Clarke Summer Hairstyle: Low Sleek Ponytail

60463cf52518b776071b346b16f24c9a

I don’t know about you, but every time I try to do a normal ponytail I find myself fiddling on for ages because it keeps slipping. That’s where the low ponytail comes in handy. This is a great alternative that still gets your hair out of your face without all the fuss. Plus, it really shows off the length of your hair, something I love about it. The biggest downside is that you need to have medium to long hair to pull off this style so it’s a no go if you have short hair. If you’re trying this style, the sleeker the better as unruly hair doesn’t often work in a low ponytail.

31.Rachel Bilson Summer Hairstyle: Natural Dip Dye

07997082853f694f83f8b1673faaef08

I Mentioned before about bright dip byes but don’t be discouraged by the style if you don’t want pink hair. There’s nothing wrong with doing for a more natural tone like Rachel Bilson has done. It looks great, is still bright and summery, plus you don’t need to worry about if your boss will allow it either!

32.Selena Gomez Summer Hairstyle: Extreme Side Parting and Volume

a4182ddd249c1112712f013559b0e198

Before we move on, I think we should just take a moment to appreciate how flawless Selena Gomez looks in this picture, something I’m attributing to the great lighting, her natural beauty, and not to mention her incredible hairstyle. She’s swished her long hair into an extreme side ponytail, create tonnes of volume and an asymmetrical look which makes her look chic and fearsome. No matter the length of your hair you should try brushing your hair over like this, you’ll likely be surprised at the results. Plus, this style means you get to look chic as you run your hands through your hair to maintain it too!

33. Kirsten Dunst Summer Hairstyle: Summer Accessories and a Curled Up Do

a93431d7e9d21901ea77243e1a8e99ed

How great does Kirsten look here? And so summery! It seems she’s picked out the ultimate summer accessory to go with her summer up do. While we may avoid over the top accessories for the rest of the year it seems to me that summer is the time for expression so make the most of them. Choose an accessory that really compliments your hair and eye colour, something that makes you stand out.

34. Kirsten Dunst Summer Hairstyle: Full Frings

ab39447b06613df2325370fffb6f6e43

If you’re looking for a quick change from summer then why not invest in a full fringe? A full fringe can instantly change your face shape and ultimately your entire look. If you’ve got a small forehead then this is a great look for you as it will stop your hair from falling in your eyes and will make your forehead look longer.

35. Emma Watson Summer Hairstyle: Rugged Bob

b6c1c85c67bc468331d74090fafe1536

Emma Watsons rugged bob is incredibly suit and makes the most of the bob style mixed with classic beach waves too. This style is loos best if you have a delicate face shape and a sharp bone structure.

36. Jennifer Lawrence Summer Hairstyle: Side Bun

Side buns are perfect for summer. They’re quick, easy, stylish, and simply a little different. They’re not as straightforward as usual buns and you can throw them up in seconds while you hang out on the beach. While Jen has no bangs here, you have complete creative control with this style so style your bangs however suits you.

37. Shilaine Woodley Summer Hairstyle: Brushed Through

c7dbb856e348ddd29328ad52b24f823f

And who says you have to spend ages styling your hair anyway? There are days when you simply don’t have time, or you’d rather be out enjoying the summer sun instead. In this case simply grab your brush, detangle your hair, and head out your front door. Explore your natural beauty and let your hair flow freely.

38. Kiera Knightley Summer Hairstyle: A Line Bob

If you’ve got a delicate face shape then an A line bob is sure to do wonders for your look. They’re great for bringing out the best in all your features and exposing your skin to the sun. Having them a little rugged like Kiera’s is a great choice as it makes them look chic yet not too serious.

39. Katy Perry Summer Hairstyle: Bold and Bright

Can’t decide on one particular colour to brighten your look this summer? That’s okay, you don’t have to! Simply make like Katy Perry and throw all your favourite colours in there. The result will be bright, bold, and undeniably beautiful. Admittedly you have to have guts to do this but it’s well worth it!

40. Jennifer Lawrence Summer Hairstyle: Fluffy Bangs

cf35531287a3a4eefc9f0bb27b93c201

Some people don’t like heavy bangs but that’s okay. Instead why not try this great alternative? Jen’s bangs are fluffy and light, giving her the same great look without having to sacrifice the length of as much of her hair. This look is perfect for heart shaped faces.

41. Sophia Bush Summer Hairstyle: Side Braid

d3e57b8e25002acffd478ea79d5bb74b

Not sure what to do with your bangs? Pinning them back in a side braid is a great option. It looks so chic, is perfect for festivals, and it saves them from falling in your face as you swim in the sea or chill on the beach. You don’t even have to worry about styling the rest of your hair either as this makes for a great boho style.

42. Jennifer Lawrence Summer Hairstyle: Pixie Cut

d9d22df548d4f1e55efc72635316746c

Summer is a great time for installing change so why not take a deep breath and get a pixie cut. They’re so cute, great as they’re light for summer, and believe it or not you can style them numerous ways. I know,  I know, it’s a scary idea but I’m sure you’ll agree it looks fab!

43. Vanessa Anne Hudgens Summer Hairstyle: 60s Chic

d13a8ed8ec9cb6e7112bd5d7b6b5556c

I love Vanessa Hudgen’s hippy look here and I’m sure you’ll agree she looks so summery and festival ready. Her tight curls and flowery headband screams summer and sixties all at once, making her look like she was born to be a festival goer. I can’t wait to try this style!

44. Demi Lovato Summer Hairstyle: Be Bold

d4472ef63f9ebfa8697b833f8c3d14dd

Summer to me simply means sun and bright colours, something Demi has captured perfectly here. Her gorgeous purple hair shows that she’s ready for summer and filled with confidence. Of course, you don’t have to go with purple. Choose any colour you like – blue, green, pink, you name it!

45. Emilia Clarke Summer Hairstyle: Beach Ready

dd34c13628a9ddf4e862b328582afe5f

I love Emilia Clarke’s effortless look here. Sure, she’s not done much with her hair to create a style but I’m sure you’ll agree she looks perfect for the beach. If you’re hitting the beach don’t worry about your hair, as soon as you get in the water you’ll have the perfect look anyway!

46.Hayden Panettiere Summer Hairstyle: Short Ponytail

e2c54e44f727ba64c038ff116a443413

Hayden may not have the longest hair but she looks fab with her short ponytail. This look works best if you have a delicate face and you can pull all your hair back but it’s worth trying even if you have a round face and bangs too.

47. Natalie Dormer Summer Hairstyle: Zig-Zag Parting

ea1dc7db82d6da78aed5674881c442fb

Natalie Dormer looks fab with her chic zig-zag parting. It’s a great look for summer as it looks so fresh and unique. This is a style anyone can pull of no matter their face shape and even something you can add to ponytails too. It’s definitely worth experimenting with.

48.Hayden Panettiere Summer Hairstyle: Soft and Sleek

f63257fcf56824a4f1670d7f3a2dea25

Hayden looks great with her straightened hair here. It makes her hair look so soft and is a style you can create in minutes with the right styler. No matter your face shape or hair length this is a great style, though the rounder your face the more volume you may wish to add.

49. Paris Hilton Summer Hairstyle: Half Braid

fb998b7bf98fb35beb74d6d0f2a00077

Adding a braid down one side of your hair is a great way to pull your hair off your face and looks especially good if you style the rest of your hair too. It looks great with either curled or straight hair, the choice is yours.

50. Emma Stone Summer Hairstyle: Layered Ponytail

fc7c7f3af25bd32c5a9c18321796f1db

Layered hair makes for a rugged ponytail like Emma Stone’s, something which is great for summer. It makes you look like a beach babe and a little bit windswept. As a general rule, the longer your hair the better this will look.

Eyeliner – when it’s done right it can make your eyes pop and look absolutely stunning, readying you for a big day or and even bigger night ahead. Done wrong and, well, to put it bluntly it looks a mess and can ruin your whole look, no matter if your outfit, lipgloss and blush are perfect. That’s why it’s so important that you put that little bit of extra effort in when doing your eyeliner. Don’t worry if you’re not all that good at it or don’t have a steady hand, like everything eyeliner is all about practice. To get you started, here’s the twenty best fabulous eyeliner styles and some pro tips too.

1. Make It Thick

eyeliner style1 There are few things I love more than seeing perfectly done thick eyeliner on a woman. No matter what style of line you’re applying, try thickening it up. I suggest just thickening it slightly at first and then gradually making it bigger, that way you can see what suits you best. This trick really does make your eyes stand out while allowing them to be mysterious too. It also really accentuates your mascara so your lashes look lovely and long. I love this!

2. Smudge It

eyeliner style2

If you don’t have much time to do a fancy eyeliner style, simply apply your usual coat of eyeliner and smudge it around the edges. It creates a daring and bold look which is completely effortless but looks fabulous all the same. Using black eyeliner will really make this look stand out but I’ve known myself to use greens, yellows and even purples and still do this effect. It really is a timeless look.

3. Make It Thin

eyeliner style3

This is probably the eyeliner style that I wear most often but that’s because it looks so damn good. Applying just a really thin layer of eyeliner really enhances your eyes without taking too much away from the rest of your look. You need to have a steady hand to pull it off (or, like me, you could cheat and wipe any excess away with a makeup wipe!) but it’s worth it. It’s a great look for the office, formal occasions, date nights, anything at all!

4. Winged Eyes

eyeliner style4

In some ways winged eyeliner looks similar to the cat eyeliner (which I’ll cover later) but in other ways it’s completely different. While you focus heavily on the top of your eyes, creating a beautiful sweeping stroke, you also line your bottom lids too. This makes for a more rounded look and really defines your eyes.

5. Colour Me Crazy

eyeliner style5

So tell me, who said eyeliner had to be either black or brown? And also, who else still believes it? Eyeliner can be any colour you want – my own makeup bag is bursting with vibrant blues, heated pinks and daring yellows. There’s even a few glittery ones in there too. You wouldn’t believe all the colours eyeliner comes in now, there are countless ones to choose from. And so I ask you, why on Earth are you still wearing that boring black? When choosing what colour eyeliner to wear, try making it a darker shade of your eyeshadow or a shade that matches. You can even match it to your clothes or an accessory you’re wearing. Seriously, ladies, it’s time to start experimenting. One warning though, once you’ve started it can be difficult to stop! These crazy colours can be addictive!

6. Open Wings

eyeliner style6

Open winged eyeliner is where you draw on two lines of eyeliner (one on the top and the bottom) and create a small opening between the lines, making it look like the two wings aren’t connected. It’s not the easiest of looks to create and you’ll need a steady hand (it may take a few attempts to get right – it always does for me!) but it’s completely worth the extra effort. It draws people’s attention to your eyes and really shows them off. Plus, it’s not your usual style and I love how different it makes you look. You can also do variations of this look by adding an extra line to the top of your eyes and again not connecting it, giving you a feathered look.

7. Egyptian Style

eyeliner style7

Why not take a lesson from the ancient Egyptians and copy their eyeliner? It’s fun, it’s funky and it really does stand out. Not convinced? Why not take a look at Lady Gaga in her Judas video – she’s totally rocking the style! Of course, this is a style you can play up or play down as much as you like depending on what suits you. It can be quite a bold style so perhaps you could switch the traditional, daring black for a softer colour. The style is the same but the look will be wonderfully different.

8. White Eyeliner

eyeliner style8

We talked before about coloured eyeliner but now I’m going to go into specifics and suggest you buy yourself a white eyeliner. This is a great addition to your makeup bag that’s worth every penny. Adding white eyeliner to your eyes makes them appear wider, brighter and more awake. It’s a great way to get a fresh look and make yourself look wide awake even if you did only get a few hours sleep. You can also use it alongside your usual colour by either blending it in or just adding a touch of it to the corners of your eyes to create the same illusion of bright, wide eyes.

9. Lock It In Place

eyeliner style9

There are few things worse than when your eyeliner runs and you wind up looking like a panda or a raccoon come the end of the day. To stop this happening all you need to do is get a skin or matching colour eyeshadow and lightly dab it across the top of your neatly done liner. This will hold it in place and stop it from smudging or running, saving you the annoyance of having to touch it up every few hours or worry about it all day long.

10. Creative Wings

eyeliner style10

We’re back to those beautiful wings again but this time we’re getting creative. You can adapt this style in so many ways to suit you meaning it could be different every day of the week or for formal or social occasions. Try stopping the line half way along your lid, thickening it up, trailing it into the crease of your eye or even changing colours half way along the wing. This style is so versatile which is one of the reasons I love it so much. Experiment away, the worst that can happen is you have to start over, after all.

Deciding how to wear your hair for work can be a nightmare! You want to look smart and professional but at the same time you don’t want to look boring or go to work wearing the same hair style day in and day out. You want to be your usual fashionable self, even if you are at work. Depending on where you work it can become even harder to decide how to wear your hair too seeing as some work places don’t allow you to wear your hair down if it’s longer than shoulder length. Does that mean you just have to tie it into a pony tail every day and be done with it? No! Of course not! Even if your workplace has restrictions like this it doesn’t mean you’re stuck to just one hair style.

Before I became a writer I wore my hair the same way every day for years. You’d always see me with the same ponytail which was tied at virtually the same height and it never changed. It wasn’t until just before I became a writer that I began to experiment and realised what I’d been missing. Having a stylish ‘do even while I was at work made me feel like a whole new person. It filled me with confidence for no other reason than that I knew I looked good. All of a sudden I’d broken free of my cage and had found my wings, all because I’d discovered there was more to professional hairstyles than your average ponytail.

If you too are stuck in a rut but aren’t quite sure what else to do with your hair while you’re on the clock then never fear. Here’s the ultimate list of twenty professional hairstyles to help you experiment in this year, each of them perfected by some of the most glamourous women out there…

Rachel Bilson Professional Hairstyle – Half Up Do

Professional hairstyles_04

This is a classic look and one of my all time favourite hairstyles. It’s so simple and easy yet looks professional and chic at the same time. It suits any hair length so long as your hair is long enough to tie up the top portion and it’s one most work places will let you get away with.

Sophia Bush Professional Hairstyle – Bun

Professional hairstyles_11

I’m sure we’re all familiar with buns. They’re great for social events, night out, formal occasions and for wearing in the office. If you ask me, they’re probably the smartest hair style going, perfect for work! They’re quick and simple to do and are easy to put back in if they slip during your hectic working day. Plus, all your hair is out of your face so it won’t annoy you.

Hayden Panettiere Professional Hairstyle – Bob

Professional hairstyles_18

If you’re looking for an easy style and considering getting your hair chopped then a bob could be perfect for you. They’re easy to maintain and, as your hair is above the shoulders, most workplaces don’t make you tie them up so you can make the most of your look. The style is professional, sexy and stylish all in one. Perfect!

Hayden Panettiere – Tied Back

Professional hairstyles_07

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a simple ponytail just so long as you don’t overdo it and wear them day in and day out like I made a habit of doing. They’re easy, stylish and professional so don’t discount them completely.

Nina Dobrev – Wrapped Ponytail

Professional hairstyles_02

Ponytails don’t just have to be normal and boring however. Try wearing a wrapped ponytail like Nina Dobrev to vamp up your look. It will completely transform the style while still looking professional.

Selena Gomez – Side Ponytail

Professional hairstyles_21

This is another personal favourite of mine. I love side ponytails, they’re so stylish, easy to do and maintain and also look really professional. I think it’s a far better look than your usual ponytail and makes the wearer look quirky and fun. At the same time, your hair is still tied back so your employer can’t complain if that’s an issue for them.

Nicole Kidman – Side Braid

Professional hairstyles_06

A twist on the side ponytail is to wear a side braid. They’re just as quick and easy to do and probably even more professional than the side ponytail. This will stop your hair from going static as mine so often used to do when I was working and will stop it from flying about everywhere when you’re really busy. They’re cute and professional, perfect!

Jessica Alba – Straight And Sleek

Professional hairstyles_09

If you’re allowed to wear your hair down for work then how about putting your straighteners to good use? Straightening your hair makes it look sleek and shiny and the straightness makes you look professional. It’s a great style that, if done right, can last all day. All you need to do is brush it now and again to stop it getting tangled.

Jennifer Anniston – Braided Bangs

Professional hairstyles_19

I don’t know about you, but it always annoys me when my bangs fall in my face while I’m working. I’ve had my bangs just about every length possible so I can tell you from experience that you can braid them no matter how long they are which is great to get them out your face while you’re working.

Jennifer Lawrence – Slick Back Hair

Professional hairstyles_03

Slicking your hair back is a great way to get your locks out of your face and also looks really professional. Jennifer Lawrence really pulls it off – doesn’t she look fab? It’s a minimal effort look too so it’s great for when you need something quick and easy if you roll out of bed late.

Rachel McAdams – French Twist

Professional hairstyles_16

This is a great professional look that you can wear in most working environments. It’s a lot easier to do than you think too, after a bit of practice you’ll be able to do it perfectly in minutes. On the downside it may take you a few practices to perfect it at first, it can be tricky to get your head around but the results are definitely worth it!

Selena Gomez – French Braid

Professional hairstyles_05

When is a french braid not a great option for any occasion? Never is my answer to that! They’re great for work as they’re cute, fun and still give you the professional look you’re going for. Your hair will be safely out of your face and looking stylish too. Plus, when you let your hair down later on you’ll have lovely waves running through it as a result of this style.

Emma Roberts – Curls

Professional hairstyles_15

If you’re lucky enough to be allowed to wear your hair down for work then curling it can give you an easy yet effective professional look. Your curlers will help make your hair look sleek and shiny and will add volume and life to your hair.

Reese Witherspoon – High Ponytail

Professional hairstyles_14

Ponytails don’t have to be plain and boring. Simple adding a bit of height to them can really change your style. Wearing a high ponytail will make your hair seem thicker and longer while still making you look professional.

Amanda Seyfried – Braided

Professional hairstyles_17

If you’re skilled enough to be able to do this style or a variation of it alone then tis may be perfect for work. Braids in any shape or form always looks stylish and if worn right they can make you look like a true professional.

Miley Cyrus – Low Bun

Professional hairstyles_20

You wouldn’t think it but the difference between a low bun and a high bun is staggering. I love them both but I personally prefer the low bun like Miley’s wearing. I think they’re much easier to do and as fewer people are wearing them they make you stand out a little more.

Gwyneth Paltrow – Natural And Down

Professional hairstyles_10

Why do we have to style our hair for work? If we can get away with it, why not just wear it down for a change? If your hair is reasonably tidy naturally and isn’t frizzy then try wearing it down to work. There’s nothing to say that natural hair isn’t professional so long as it’s neat so give it a try!

Jennifer Lawrence – Cropped Hair

Professional hairstyles_08

If you want to do something really radical then why not try this cropped look that more and more celebs are wearing. It’s so stylish and really professional. It requires little to no effort to make it look fab so you don’t have to mess around with it, giving you a few more all important minutes in bed!

Amanda Seyfried – Bangs Clipped Back

Professional hairstyles_13

We’re back to those pesky bangs falling in our face again! The answer to getting them out of our way doesn’t have to be hard or require hours of styling however. Simply grab a couple of hair clips and pin your bangs back. Voila! Your look is totally transformed!

Kate Beckinsale – Side Bun

Professional hairstyles_22

Here’s yet another fab variation of the classic bun yet still it looks completely different. The side bun is probably my favourite bun of all. It’s easy to do and incredibly classy, just what you want for those long days in the office. It can be done in a number of ways too by using braids or curling the hair first.

We constantly see our favourite celebs wearing beautiful hairstyles and it can be so frustrating not having a clue how to do mimic the style on ourselves. Sure, our favourite celebs have a host of hairdressers to help them out be it on set, off set or for a big event and sadly we don’t have that advantage. That’s why I’ve been on a mission to find the fifty most stylish hairstyles for long hair that are quick and, most importantly, easy to achieve. If you’re looking for a new way to wear your hair in this year then keep reading, by the end of this article you’ll no doubt be inspired and running for the curlers, srtraigteners or hair clips!

1. Candice Accola Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Side Braid & Loose Bangs Accessorised With A Hat

easy hairstyle for long hair_01

The Vampire Diaries Caroline Forbes looks fab here as she flaunts an oh so simple hairstyle. She’s wearing a simple side braid and has left her bangs and a few other strands of hair free to frame her face. The simple addition of a bowler hat completely transforms her look from shy and simple to quirky and fun with virtually no effort at all.

2. Anna Paquin Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Top Layer Of Hair Tied Up

easy hairstyle for long hair_02

Anna Paquin looks fab here with little to no effort at all. Her hair is in an everyday style that will look fab on anyone with long hair. She’s simply pinned back the top layer of her hair and let the bottom hang loose. Notice how effortlessly she’s pinned it back too – the slightly rugged look adds and extra dimension to this style.

3. Reese Witherspoon Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Straight Hair And Short Bangs

easy hairstyle for long hair_03

Resse Witherspoon looks fab here and all she’s done is straighten her hair! Her short bangs and choppy layers really add to this look however – straightening your hair so severely may not turn out the same if you don’t have layers but the best advice I’ve got on this style is practice!

4. Jennifer Lawrence Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Messy Side Bun

easy hairstyle for long hair_04

Jennifer Lawrence looks fab here! Her hair has simple been pulled to one side as though you’re about to tie it in a side ponytail and has then been scrunched up into a messy bun. One tip – when creating this look sometimes strands can come loose and ruin your style so be sure to finish your look with a quick spray of hairspray.

5. Emma Stone Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Side Parting & Fringe

easy hairstyle for long hair_05

One of the best ways to change up your look easily is to change the position of your parting. When you get out of the shower simply move your parting over a couple of inches as you’re brushing your hair out and voila! Your hair will instantly look completely different. Depending on how your hair is layered however your layers may look slightly off if they settle in a new place but it’s one of those things where you’ll never know if you never try.

6. Selena Gomez Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Rugged Side Braid

easy hairstyle for long hair_06

This is the best side braid I’ve seen yet! I love how effortless and careless it looks and in truth it is! To create this look simple wind your hair into a normal side braid leaving your bangs and a bit extra hair out. Once you’ve tied your braid simple tease it out creating the rugged effect. Try curling the bits of hair you left out and messing them up a bit with some matte mouse.

7. Reese Witherspoon Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – High Ponytail With Curls

easy hairstyle for long hair_07

Sometimes if you’ve got long hair it can be frustrating having it down all the time. If this is the case, take after Reese Witherspoon and putt it into a beautiful, high ponytail. It’s out your way and the height of it will give your hair volume. Don’t tie your hair too tight however or your face may end up looking a bit sharp. For added texture, curl the ends of your ponytail once it’s up.

8. Taylor Swift Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Straight Ponytail

easy hairstyle for long hair_08

Taylor Swift is known for her curly hair and if you are too maybe it’s time for a change. Straighten your hair and then tie it into a ponytail, you’ll end up with a beautifully long, sleep ‘do!

9. Megan Fox Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Rugged Beach Look

easy hairstyle for long hair_09

I love this look on Megan Fox! It’s so simple too. Simply add a bit of mouse and rough your hair up a little after showering and voila! You’ll have the perfect sexy beach look. For added effect try back combing some of the under layers.

10. Reese Witherspoon Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – The Rugged Look

easy hairstyle for long hair_10

For some of us, perfectly straight hair is just too much and makes our faces look sharp and severe. To battle this, once you’ve straightened your hair simply rough it up a bit for the perfect rugged, sexy look.

11. Hayden Panettiere Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Braided Up Do

easy hairstyle for long hair_11

At first glance this style seems so complicated but trust me, it’s anything but! Simply tie your hair into a high ponytail and begin to braid it. Once that’s complete twist your hair around the back of your hair and pin it in place. It creates an elegant look in minutes.

12. Beyonce Knowles Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – High Ponytail

easy hairstyle for long hair_12

I love a high ponytail, especially when hair is as sleek as Beyonce’s! Your hair will fan as it falls, appearing longer and thicker. Try wrapping a spare with of hair around the hairband you use for added effect too.

13. Kristen Bell Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Braided Bun

easy hairstyle for long hair_13

To achieve this elegant look simply pull the majority of the top half of your hair into a bun and secure it in place. TO create the braid use what’s left of the underside of your hair and, once it’s braided, pull it around the bun and secure it in place with some pins. Simple, though it looks anything but!

14 – Miley Cyrus Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Loose Waves

easy hairstyle for long hair_14

If you’ve got gorgeous, long hair like Miley used to have sometimes the best thing to do with it is simply show it off. Curl the ends of your hair and let them fall where they may. The look is simple and makes the most of your hair.

15. Demi Lovato Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – High Side Braids

easy hairstyle for long hair_15

This is a great way to get unwanted hair out of your face. Simply pull apart the sections you’d like to pin back and braid them to one side. You can have a braid at either side like Demi, pull it all into one or have a few little ones. The effect is gorgeous either way.

16. Kate Hudson Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – High Bun

easy hairstyle for long hair_16

This is elegant, sleek and most of us can already create a bun with ease. For an added twist try pulling the bun higher on your head, it looks completely different to a ben set lower down.

17. Scarlett Johanson Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Simple Headband

easy hairstyle for long hair_22

Perhaps the simplest way to alter your style is to add an accessory. A simple headband to push your hair off your face will thicken the rest of your hair and leave you looking like a new person.

18. Jennifer Anniston Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Braid To Frame Face

easy hairstyle for long hair_23

If you want your hair out your face but don’t want to use a hair accessory then try braiding your bangs. It’s a great look and so simple to achieve! For added effect either curl or straighten the rest of your hair to really finish your look.

19. Amanda Seyfried Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Center Parting Ponytail

easy hairstyle for long hair_24

To really wow people add a side parting to your ponytail. It really does make a difference and can soften to look. Amanda Seyfried pulls the look off perfectly. Try adding a few curls to your hair to give a bit of volume to your ponytail. It makes this plain style over into something to talk about.

20. Kim Kardashian Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Loose Bangs And A Puffed Up Up-Do

easy hairstyle for long hair_25

If your usual ponytail is too boring for you then, once you’ve pulled your hair back, push it in and upwards on your hair to create this puffed up effect. It adds a whole new dimension to your hair. Quite often hair can come loose in this style so I advice leaving your bangs down like Kim Kardashian. To hold your hair in place, finish off with plenty of hairspray so your style lasts all day.

21. Nina Dobrev Easy Hairstyles For Long Hair – Bangs Pinned Back And Hair Curled

Back in the 80s, curls were 100% the hairstyle to have. Straighteners were out and curlers, crimpers and perms were everywhere. Girls loved their curls and why not? They brought volume, life and waves to their hair. Now, thirty years later, everything retro is back in fashion and women everywhere are realizing that the 80s rocked – especially when it came to fashion.

If you’re one of the millions of women who love wearing their hair in curls, you’ll know how much of a hassle it is too though. How many seemingly endless hours do you spend a week trying to achieve the perfect curls? How often have you found yourself wanting to throw your curlers in the trash? Curling your hair is a nightmare – fact. The solution? If you curl your hair near daily anyway and know that’s not likely to change any time soon, why not get a perm? Your curls will last for months (the tighter the curls the longer the perm) so you’ll have no more daily hassle with curlers. Your hair will look great and you’ll save yourself heaps of precious time! Win, win!

Perms aren’t just a one curl type fits all type of job anymore either. You can choose how you want your hair permed and in what style. Confused? Let’s take a look at six different types of perms you can get…

Spiral Perm

Spiral perms are created using long perm rods. The end result is extremely tight, cascading curls or ringlets. They look like tightly wound spirals or corkscrews. Of course, how tight the curls are depends on the size of the perm rod and the various chemicals used. These factors will mostly vary from salon to salon so be sure to ask – some salons will be able to provide pictures of their work as examples.

Body Perm

Body wave perms help to give volume to hair. They’re generally suited for people with thin or flat hair and the curls will be larger on women with hair that is naturally quite straight. It produces loose curls and a gentle wave which is great for adding volume and a bit of life to dull hair. It’s great for shoulder length hair or longer and suits people with square faces as it tends to soften facial features.

Spot/Plain Curl Perm

Plain curl perms (often referred to as ‘spot perms’) focus on curling a specific section of hair. They’re used generally to help achieve a certain style, for example curling only the ends or midsection of your hair. With plain curl perms, you can choose to either have tight or loose curls. The result tends to be natural looking waves depending on where you choose to have permed.

Muti-Textured Perm

If you’re worried about your perm looking a bit too uniform and unnatural, a multi-textured perm could be perfect for you. It’s created using two different sized styling rods which means the curls end up varying sizes throughout your hair. This is thought to look more natural and the uniform and defined curls you would get otherwise. Due to the nature of the perm, it’s best done on women with long hair – the result isn’t quite as flattering on short hair I’m sorry to say.

Root Perm

Root perms are perfect for women with flat, limp and lifeless hair. As the name suggests, this process involves perming just the roots. The slight curl will give your roots a bit of body which will in turn help to lift the rest of your hair, giving it volume.

Root perms can also be used on women with short hair who simply want to bring a bit of life to it. It’s perfect for giving your short hair an incredibly fashionable and retro look.

Stacked Perm

Stacked perms work better for women with hair of all one length opposed to hair with layers due to the fact it adds a lot of volume to hair. Generally, it suits women of all face types too. Stacked perms are where the stylist focuses on curling only close to the ends of the hair, giving hair volume and creating the illusion of layers.

Pin Curl Perm

As the name would suggest, pin curl pins are created with pins and curlers. They tend to create quite tight curls however you do have some control over size as you can choose the appropriate curler size to be used. The one drawback to pin curl perms are that they tend not to last as long as other perms, especially if your hair is quite long. This is best done on medium or short hair.

Loose Wave Perm

Loose wave perms are a great choice if you’re not totally committed to having super curly or wavy hair. As the name suggests, this type of perm creates loose waves which can be easily compared to the beach wave look, something which looks fab come summertime. It can be done on any length of hair but the longer the better in this case or the waves likely won’t have much effect on your look.

Partial Perm

Partial perms involve perming only the bottom half of your hair (or even just the very end if you choose) and leave the part of your hair nearest your scalp completely straight. This is a great way to add volume to your look without overdoing it and also tends to be a much manageable style than most other perms. If you’re going to be tying your hair up a lot this look is perfect for you.

Volumising Perm

Volumising perms add volume – it really is that simple. You can get them in a variety of curl styles but as a rule they tend to use quite tight curls to create extra volume. Plus, there tends to be lots of small curls opposed to a few loose big ones which adds even more volume. It’s not the easiest style in the world to manage but it is a look that is sure to get you noticed.

How-can-i-volumize-the-curly-hair

As you can see, you have loads of choice when it comes to what perm to get. Even within these basic perm types, all perms are different depending on the rod type and the chemicals used to set your hair. These six perms are just a few of what you can get too – there are lots more perm types out there but these are the most popular.

Now that I’ve told you about various perm types, it seems only fitting that I give you a few instructions on how to care for your new perm too. Firstly, do not – DO NOT – wash your hair for an absolute minimum of 24 hours after having your perm done. Doing so will deactivate the chemicals used to set your perm before your perm has had a chance to take hold and thus your hair will return to being exactly the same as it was before. If you don’t want your perm to be not only a waste of time but money too then this tip is a must!

Secondly, try to care for your perm will special shampoos and conditioners. These will help your perm to last longer and look better too. Perms can last for anywhere between two to six months so to give your perm the best chance of survival care for it wisely.

So that’s that! Have fun choosing which perm to get and enjoy your new style. Be sure to experiment with your new style too – just because your hair has a bit of extra volume and a few added curls doesn’t mean all your favorite hair clips and all your old hairdos need to go to waste.

Happy perming, ladies. Be sure to let me know how it goes and if you found this article useful.
