What Does It Mean When You See Dead Persons Alive In Your Dreams?

By on April 24, 2018

At one point or another, the majority of us have wound up dreaming about a dead person. It may have been a loved one that recently passed away, a friend that we held dear in our hearts that left long ago, or perhaps even a public figure who left this earth and now appears to be visiting us in our dreams.

This phenomenon of dreaming about a deceased person can go one of two ways, or perhaps both at the same time. First and foremost, you’re going to fear excited, especially if you’re seeing a loved one whom you thought would never cross paths with you again. You may also feel a bit of fear- why is this dead person showing up in my dreams, alive? What could it possibly mean? Well, let’s dive in- shall we?

What Do Dreams About Dead People Mean

You Miss Them

Perhaps the most obvious reason why you may end up dreaming about a dead person is simply because you miss them; in fact, you probably miss them terribly. And while you never thought you’d see them again in your lifetime, having them show up in your dreams is the next best thing- and you’re going to feel happy about it and like you’ve reached a point of ‘peace’ by seeing their face or hearing their voice one last time.

You may also be thinking about this person often, and thinking about things leaves a ‘stain’ in your subconscious that will most likely spring up while you’re asleep. But whether or not they’ve been on your mind, them showing up in your dream will give you one last chance to say your goodbyes or simply spend time with them one more time.

They Have a Message for You

Some people (and some cultures) truly believe that a dead person visiting your dream has a specific message for you, and you need to follow it.

It is believed that a dead person coming back with a message is something you truly need to hear but won’t do for yourself. For example, if this person is telling you that you need to move on from a boyfriend/girlfriend or perhaps a career and you won’t do it for yourself, their guidance may sway you to finally make that change.

While you don’t necessarily have to listen to this deceased individual, some cultures believe that not listening will bring you a lot of suffering and pain in the future. However, every case is different and you must decide for yourself if you are going to listen to their advice or warning, or go about your daily life the way you want.

You’re in Disbelief, Stuck in the Past

When a person passes away it is truly a terrible thing. It is one of the most heartbreaking and torturous situations a person can go through, and there’s nothing we can do about it. That’s why it is not uncommon or unheard of for someone to be in utter disbelief about the death and refuse to accept it.

By not accepting this person’s fate, you’re opening up a world of torment for yourself. This state of shock and disbelief will not help you in your day to day life, so having this dead person visit you in your dreams may give you a bit of closure. After their visit, you may finally be able to believe that it’s real, but you’ll see this person again one day.

what does it mean when you dream about someone who is already dead

A Sign of Good Fortune

A lot of people also believe that seeing a dead person in your dreams is a sign of great fortune! It can mean something wonderful is about to happen that will change your life forever, such as a marriage, a new baby in the family, a promotion in your job, or something else that will bring you great happiness.

Every Dream is Different

It is important to remember that every dream is different. If you have a dream about a dead person you need to take note of what the person says to you, what the two of you end up doing, and whether or not this person is happy or sad. Remembering your dream and everything that occurred with this individual will help you determine whether this was just a fun visit, or if they have a warning or some type of advice for you.

Have you ever had a dream about a dead person? What happened in your dream? Did they have any amazing advice or fun things to talk about? We’d love to hear all your dreams and see if we can help determine what it was all about.

Death and birth are both signs of transformation and change in a dream. The fact that you thought your cousin came back as the baby seems to represent this idea quite well. The dream could just be showing you the major ways your relationship has changed with your cousin, but it may also just represent the renewal that occurs throughout our lives and your realization that a part of your cousin will always be a part of this world.

Your dream is a manifestation of your emotional relationship with your late friend. The laughter within the dream is a sign of your shared experiences. Ensure that this dream guides you in a positive direction. Share your kindness and compassion at all times, as this will help you honor the memory of your friend.

I had a dream about my ex boyfriend, I went at his house and he was so happy to see me. He was about to join the army & I told him to be careful & do his best. I later went back inside to have a conversation with his mom & another family member. They were also happy but I started to cry & was about to leave, they called me bck to talk to me, I woke up after that.

This dream was a reflection of the strength of your shared emotional and social relationships with your ex and his family members. He made the decision to join the military, and this has led to the end of your relationship. Allow thoughts of him to fade, and make a decision about what you want for your future without him as your partner.

I dreamed of my deceased grandfather… He’s sleeping and i went outside to buy food for him…when i came back…i saw him eating a white rice on a plate. I tried to talk to him but he didn’t even look at me. He’s staring outside the window and he’s so sad. I can feel his sadness in that dream…😶

The dream occurred because you are sad and miss him. You wish that he could be a part of your life, but he can’t, which is why he was staring outside the window and wasn’t interacting with you in the dream.

Hi I had a dream that I moved into a house and a family that died in the house in the 1800’s came back alive and we’re requesting to be properly killed and buried in the house. I was hiding under the bed the whole time and they didn’t know that I was there. The only one I encountered was the infant baby which was also a member of the family. And the baby cried so loud. I hid back under the bed because I was scared the whole entire time.

Perhaps the dream is trying to tell you that you have to be wary of the past because unresolved issues can lead to problems in the present. You may also be afraid of how innocent people like the baby can be harmed if there isn’t anyone around to look out for them.

It is possible that you felt a strong connection with your neighbor’s grandmother, and these experiences were aspects of your interactions during her life. The porcelain bowl and lid could be a sign of your appreciation of her values and desires. Honor her memory by sharing your kindness and compassion at all times.

Even though you weren’t particularly close, he was someone you had in your life. Because you have memories of him, he may reappear in your subconscious mind from time to time. The fact that he wanted you to be his girlfriend may have made his memory leave more a lot on your psyche, which may have explained why this dream appeared as well.

My next door neighbour assed away few weeks ago and we never got on she was horrible to me and we never saw eye to eye. I saw here in my dream that she was alive and telling me that it was not her funeral that I saw but just friends visiting her.

Perhaps your subconscious is just trying to make sense of your feelings now that she has passed on. Because she was so horrible to you, you probably feel a sense of relief, gratitude and freedom now that she has passed. Since you aren’t a horrible person, you may also feel guilty and conflicted for being relieved that she is gone. Your dream was most likely created because your subconscious is trying to process all of these feelings.

The dream shows what you would like to have happen. Judging by the dream, it seems like your subconscious is struggling to recognize the fact that he has moved on. After a loved one passes on, these kinds of dreams can happen for months or years afterward as the subconscious tries to come to terms with everything.

My husband passed away 11 years ago. Our youngest girls were 3 and 18 months. It was sudden and very unexpected. I dreamed last night that I was at a school with some co-workers and we were trying to find a safe place from a storm. I went into a room that I felt very unsafe in because the door kept blowing open with no lock or door knob. So I went out into a street with my girls, who were the age they are now, and someone told me my late husband was there. We went searching for him and saw him but he had a big curly wig on, I went to him and told him it wasn’t safe because a storm was coming. He looked at me and said “I’m gonna die aren’t I?” I shook my head yes and we all grabbed him and started hugging and crying. I was whispering to him to not let the girls know. My alarm went off while we were still wrapped up in a hug and I have had mixed emotions since. It was precious and wonderful but sad at the same time to feel like I was able to see him and hug him one more time. Can’t figure out if this is a message or just a longing for him because I miss him. Thank you

I’ve had a few dreams about a musician (who passed a year and a half ago) this last month. The very first dream I had about him was after his passing, I dreamt that I met him at an airport. I learned about his passing the following day. But as for the ones I’ve had this month, the first one we were broken up (keep in mind I’ve never met him let alone dated him) and he was trying to win me back until he was on his deathbed in a hospital, I begged him to stay and he did. In the second dream, the musician has just passed away and I somehow find a journal of his. And I read through the journal, in search of something to bring me closure about his death. I had two other dreams about him but can’t remember details, just his face. While I was a fan of his music, and was saddened by his passing, it was as an outsider. it’s not until having these dreams that I felt this inexplicable sorrow about his death, as if I knew him, almost?

I was talking to my mom about picking up my girls. (My girls live with me, and it didn’t feel like they lived with anyone else).
My mom and I were in lava hot springs (this is where my dads family does a family reunion every summer), and unloading things from the car. We were trying to decide when would be an ok time to go pick up my girls from school. For some reason I asked how my mom and my dad worked out visitation. (My parents divorced when I was y y/o)
Then we started walking but decided to turn back around when we saw this guy we didn’t know. Got back to the car, and I looked over and there was my dad (wasn’t like he was dead and came back. Really didn’t even think how weird it was until I woke up). I walked over to him, apologizing that I didn’t realise it was him that we saw when walking. He asked me if my girls and I would like to go swimming with the family in 5 minutes. He said that they had floaties for us to go down the river. When I looked at them they where wire and cylephane hearts shaped into a heart. (Like a valintines decoration). I said ok, but was thinking that I needed to go get some other things for my girls to make sure they didn’t drown. (I didn’t feel safe with my kids using the heart thing to float, but didn’t think it was insane to be using a valentine decoration as a flotation device either.

    Then I woke up

I recently unexpectedly lost my mother in law. We were quiet close and I miss her terribly. I’ve had 2 dreams about her over the last 2 nights. She looks radiant and happy but I can’t remember anything else apart from an enormous sense of relief in my dream when I realise she’s alive or and she was asking about her car! We still have it but in my dream it had been sold, the next thing I saw her in a beat up old black car?!?

dreamt of my brother who died 17 years ago. He died at age 21 and I was only 10
He walked with me and I was so happy to see him and he said that he will guide me towards the bus stop so I can get home safely (He was in his adult form while we were walking). He then got into the taxi with me and I still said to him that I can go by myself however he got in (While driving together he looked like a child in a toddler form (Face). We talked and he said it is fine that he needs to go now but on the end he was the one staying in the taxi and I was the one staying behind. I felt concerned because I was worried that he might not get home on time and as far as I can remember he somehow turned around because he missed the transport, but never returned to me, he just stayed and drove further

    Hello
I dreamt of my sister who past away in July 2019, actually I dream a lot about her, but this specific one is on my mind. I cross paths with her while on my way somewhere. It appears as though she has been alive all this time and living away from us all. I am in disbelief how can she be alive, I was with her when she took her last breathe I bathe her body prior to the funeral. She however made a comment about all her money is distributed, but she still has funds to live. I have no idea what this all means. Her estate is still being wound up…

After such an emotionally difficult year, it is only natural that you’d want your grandmother to be there for you to support you and make you feel better. Most likely, this is why your subconscious mind decided to bring her into your dream.
